Celtica The Celtica Highland
Dancers perform at many different events including parties, weddings, competitions,
private functions, conferences, senior citizen's homes, etc. They dance
both traditional and choreographed numbers under the supervision of dance
advisor Carolyn
M. Spears. All of the dancers also compete and
win throughout the Maritimes and beyond... The
Celtica Highland Dancers are a premiere performance dance troupe located
within the Halifax Regional Municipality. They have been in existence since
1996 and they perform a variety of Scottish themed dances including
traditional dances such as the sword dance and highland fling as well as
intricate choreographed pieces such as “Cape Breton Bound”
and “Scotia Scrambler”. “We recently hosted a national
convention, with 250 delegates from across Canada...So, for our opening
night reception, we wanted to make a very simple statement..’Hey,
folks, you’re in Nova Scotia, and we won’t let you forget it’ Celtica, these
professionally-trained students, are a local treasure, and I personally
recommend them, at any level, if you want to say...’Hey Bye,
welcome to Nova Scotia, HAVE A GOOD TIME’” -Bob

dancers proudly embrace and represent the culture of Nova Scotia and
Scotland through their dance, music and traditional costume. The troupe performs at festivals,
ceilidhs, conventions, corporate events, family reunions and weddings in
and around the Maritimes, Canada and even abroad. The group also prides itself in
giving back to it’s community by performing at senior citizens home
and other volunteer venues. If you or
